A Muse is a wonderfully inspiring thing for us creative types. They may come and go in one’s life, and when they are gone, it may feel like being caught in the doldrums in the middle of an empty sea…., with no rescue in sight for days, weeks, months or longer.
The tough part is to recognize when there is one in your life and not take them for granted. It is all too easy to become complacent in thinking we’re pretty hot stuff, and we got to this point all by ourselves. We forget, that just like a garden (or a relationship), that our muse needs some positive attention in order to maintain that healthy transference of inspiration that keeps us going and thriving.
Maybe someone should write a book about “maintaining your muse”. All I know is that it would be pretty boring without mine! I had thought it would be kind of cool to create a day that we could all recognize and celebrate our muses, but then what about the other 364 days? I think I’ll just celebrate each day, thank you very much!
My good fortune is to have one in my life. Thank you Shacheri!
